its hard to believe we are in the thick of winter (maybe not in sf, but polar vortex, what??) and suddenly my inbox is filling with spring lookbooks, swimsuit deals and the like. i'm still trying to wrap my head around all of the great sales running for cold weather essentials and now my mind is being inundated with visions of new sandals, bikinis and beach cover ups that are getting me prematurely excited for spring sun and summer.  it's ALSO possible my upcoming vacay is having an effect here... my first trip of the new year we'll be on safari and traveling along the coast of south africa. when we aren't spying for elephants and hyenas or checking out the local sites, i plan to be relaxing in the sun and enjoying some badly missed beach time. check out the items i'm currently coveting for our upcoming warm weather adventure and more.

shades of summer

squeezing in the last summer outfits of the season i'll be rocking as many shorts, mini's and open-toe sandals as long as the sf weather will allow.  dressed here for the weekend in nude and cream tones with my favorite sandals and these awesome shorts by karen walker. the high waist and a-line cut help to flatter the hips, elongate the legs and show off the remainder of that summer tan.

black + white

simplest trend of the season is easily black and white.  my black and white ensemble, a silk top tucked into striped shorts, felt a little dull so i paired it with a bold mint clutch and low ankle strap heels to dress it up just a touch (don't mind the rocksbox cuff i added in there too!)... pretty much covers all the trend bases and i'm ready to go for a daytime cocktail hour!
