the leather leggings

faux leather leggings are definitely a favored winter staple in my closet, but achieving the look and feel of leather sans the high price tag? i've tried several decently priced pairs including these blank denim brand, but after busting two pairs pulling up by the bet loop i've given up (i know the directions say 'do not pull by bet loop,' but seriously isn't it just second hand nature to give them a tug?). these aritizia leather pants are hands down THE best faux leather leggings i've come across. they've got the look and feel of soft leather, about as comfortable to wear as your pjs, and the price is right on the mark. i paired these beauties with a slouchy sweater and flats for some christmas decoration gazing downtown and threw on some heeled booties for dinner at night!

because i'm actually obsessed with these pants (bf jeans are for sure the sweatpants of denim), i've come to love the idea of combining my distressed bf denim with polished pieces.  it adds a lot of versatility to my usual lazy weekend favorite taking it day to night in an unexpected way.  these with trendy fall details, a leather moto jacket and gold tipped booties = ready for a night out.

while most of the nation starts to cool down, sf is teetering the brink of real summer weather (fingers crossed that is...). and the season vs the actual weather in sf always poses a bit of a forced compromise for any resident's closet. walking that line between summer and fall here i've paired warm weather nude sandals, shorts and this boho karen walker top plus cooler colors and leather to channel the transition to fall.

shades of summer

squeezing in the last summer outfits of the season i'll be rocking as many shorts, mini's and open-toe sandals as long as the sf weather will allow.  dressed here for the weekend in nude and cream tones with my favorite sandals and these awesome shorts by karen walker. the high waist and a-line cut help to flatter the hips, elongate the legs and show off the remainder of that summer tan.

maxed out

i'm becoming more and more obsessed with clover canyon designs... how they ever so slightly push the envelope with their crazy yet whimsical patterns and their unique fabric and fits (check out this neoprene number ive been coveting); sleek body cons, a line mini's, oversized coats and elegant maxis... i want it all.  i've been maxing out in this particular clover canyon number i picked up at capulet on polk street (one of my absolute favorite boutiques in the city) every chance i get.  i love that this dress is bold in print and delicate in fit; a slim button at the neck, a lower tied waist and sexy thigh high slit make this dress stunning and versatile, a hard element to achieve in my book. in. love.
